Welcome to my homepage. Currently it's main purpose is to give a little information about myself and to display some of the photos I have taken, mainly on backcountry trips. I have also included a section with links to sites that I think are useful, informative, or just plain cool. So I hope you enjoy the site and take the time to sign my guest book.

Bikes

Right now I have two bikes my Cannondale mountainbike and the fixed gear that I use for commuting and running around town. I've been very pleased with both bikes but am currently lusting after a true road bike to complete my collection, at least temporarily.

Raleigh Grand Prix c. 197?

This is the fixed gear that I built from a scavenged 10 speed frame. For those who don't know, a fixed gear is a bicycle that has only one gear and no freehub or freewheel so that it is impossible to coast. They are great training or commuting bikes not to mention the ultimate in simplicity and elegance. If you are interested in learning more about fixed gears visit Sheldon "Coasting is Bad for You" Brown's Harris Cyclery website. He has a huge site with tons of information on not only fixed gears but also on restoring and maintaining all kinds of bicycles. This bike was built mainly as a commuting bike so I chose parts primarily for their durability and ruggedness.
